The conference for all 14-19 mathematics teachers
27th - 29th June 2013
University of Keele
Accommodation is in Lindsay Court, to the south-west of the campus, a few minutes’ walk from the lecture theatres. There are lifts in the accommodation blocks to the upper floors.
We will try, as far as possible, to locate delegates from the same centre in rooms near to each other. If you have any special requests regarding this, please let us know on your registration form and we will try to accommodate them.
There are bus stops in the vicinity of the accommodation, although we recommend that, if coming to the conference by bus, that you alight at Darwin Building, in order to register in Chancellor’s Building nearby (follow MEI Conference signs) and collect your room key.
Please inform MEI prior to arrival (preferably on your delegate registration form) of any difficulties you may have in the unlikely event of an evacuation (e.g. hearing or walking difficulties), or if you have any special requirements regarding mobility.

Room keys will be issued to delegates between 9am and 6pm from Chancellor’s reception. Rooms will be available after 1pm for check in. Please vacate your bedroom by 9.30am on your day of departure. On departure keys are to be deposited in the “key return boxes”, located in Chancellor’s reception.
There is a 24 hour reception desk in Darwin Building where delegates can collect room keys outside the hours of 9am and 6pm.
Bed and breakfast accommodation is available to those travelling from a distance, who would find it more convenient to arrive the night before the conference and/or leave the day after. Please book this at the time of registration. Keele is unable to provide an evening meal on Wednesday or Saturday. Chancellor’s reception has details of local pubs and restaurants, some of which are within walking distance of the campus. Taxis can be booked using the direct phone in Darwin reception.
We have arranged that delegates may store baggage in a room in Chancellor’s Building on day of arrival or departure (available between Thursday morning and Saturday afternoon). Please enquire at Chancellor’s reception if you wish to store/retrieve baggage, as a pin code is required to gain access.
All bedrooms are premier en-suite with shared kitchens. The bedrooms are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, towels and a basic supply of toiletries (shampoo, soap and shower gel). We would advise that you bring your own hairdryer and alarm clock, as these are not supplied in the bedrooms. All bedrooms are non-smoking. Internet access is also available in the bedrooms (for which delegates will need to bring an Ethernet cable or purchase a cable from Chancellor’s reception for £2).
All rooms are equipped with a free room-to-room/ direct-dial telephone, operated by a “key com” system. In order to use your room phone externally you are requested to register, via your room phone, by providing your credit/debit card details. Further information is available from either of the main campus receptions (Chancellor’s or Darwin).
A coin operated launderette is available in Lindsay Court. Please contact reception to obtain an access card (£10 deposit payable).
Resident delegates can use the gym facilities, which are 5 minutes’ walk from Lindsay Court, free of charge by showing their key at the gym reception. Sports courts can be booked for a small fee. Changing facilities and refreshment machines are available at the Sports Centre.
Internet access is available - using a unique log-in code - in your bedroom (for which you will need to bring an Ethernet cable) and the Chancellor’s Building. Please speak to a member of staff at Chancellor’s Reception for more information and to obtain your log in details.
Keele staff will be pleased to answer your queries between 8.30am – 7pm at Chancellors or Darwin Receptions. You can contact both receptions by internal phone from your hall of residence. Outside of these hours please contact the 24hr security team who will be pleased to help. There is a 24 hour reception desk in Darwin Building where you can or go for round-the-clock assistance.
