Keele is centrally located in the UK, halfway between Manchester and Birmingham, with excellent communication links for all types of travel.
Information is given below about each form of transport, with additional information about rail/coach/bus/taxi links to the university campus:

M6 – from the North |
Exit at Junction 16 (Stoke North) signed the A500/Alton Towers · At the motorway roundabout turn right (west) onto the A500 for Crewe and Nantwich. · The University is signposted from here and the journey time via the A500/A531 and A525 is about 20 minutes. |
M6 – from the South |
Exit at Junction 15 (Stoke South) and follow the signs for the A519 into Newcastle-under-Lyme. The University is signed from the first roundabout. · Turn left at the main roundabout following the A519 (Clayton Road) to Newcastle-Under-Lyme · Follow Clayton Road (A519) across a further 3 roundabouts (the last roundabout is for Morrisons Supermarket) · At the next roundabout (No 1 London Road flats are situated on your right) turn left onto Lower Street · Cross the 1 roundabout and then turn left at the 2 roundabout, follow signs for A525 to Keele University & Conference Park. |
M1 – from the North |
Exit M1 at junction 28 · Follow the signs for A38 then the A516 until reaching the A50, sign posted Newcastle-Under-Lyme · Before reaching the end of the A50 turn off for the A34 (Stone Road/Newcastle Road) signposted Newcastle-Under-Lyme · Continue along the A34 until you reach your first major roundabout (No 1 London Road flats are situated on your left) · At this roundabout continue straight ahead (Lower Street) · Cross the 1 roundabout and then turn left at the 2 roundabout, following signs for A525 to Keele University & Conference Park. |
M1 - from the South |
Exit M1 at junction 24 · Follow the signs for the A50 · Before reaching the end of the A50 turn off for the A34 (Stone Road/Newcastle Road), signposted Newcastle-Under-Lyme · Continue along the A34 until you reach your first major roundabout (No 1 London Road flats are situated on your left) · At this roundabout continue straight ahead (Lower Street) · Cross the 1 roundabout and then turn left at the 2 roundabout, following signs for A525 to Keele University & Conference Park. |
From the West |
Follow signs for the A525 to Keele University & Conference Park. The University is situated 2 miles (3.2km) west of Newcastle-under-Lyme on the A525 road to Whitchurch, Nantwich and Crewe. |
There is ample parking near to both the conference building and to the accommodation. Please note that from Monday to Friday 9am-5pm a pay and display system operates for parking. However, when registering for the conference delegates can request a parking permit, which should be printed by the delegate in advance and displayed in the vehicle windscreen to avoid receiving a fine. (This is not necessary at the weekend). You can also download the parking permit here. |

The University is closest to Manchester International Airport, and the journey takes under an hour by road. There is also a train station at the airport. It is possible to fly to Birmingham Airport, but there are fewer international flights direct this airport than Manchester. |

Getting from Manchester Airport to the University |
Air travellers can take the train or coach to Stoke-on-Trent or a taxi direct to Keele University. There are frequent trains from Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly station and there is a regular service from there to Stoke-on-Trent station. The total rail journey takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. There are 8 daily coach services to Stoke-on-Trent bus station at Hanley. The coach journey takes about 1 hour. If you are travelling in a group the easiest way to get from Manchester Airport to Keele is to share a taxi. |

By coach |
National Express Coach services run from Manchester Airport to Stoke-on-Trent (Hanley). Information and tickets are available from the Tourist Information Desks in Terminals 1 and 2 at the airport. You will need to ask for a ticket to Stoke-on-Trent (Hanley Bus Station). There are eight daily services to Stoke-on-Trent. The journey costs from £6.50 one way. Getting from Birmingham Airport to the University |
Trains from Birmingham International Railway Station to Stoke-on-Trent take about 1 hour 15 minutes. If a group of you are travelling it may be easier to share a taxi. |

National Rail Enquiries and The Trainline Birmingham International Station serves Birmingham airport, and is connected directly into the terminal buildings via a free 'Air-Rail Link' monorail system. A single fare from Birmingham International Railway Station to Stoke-on-Trent costs from £8.50 (advance fare). See below for onward travel to Keele University. |

Getting from Stoke-on-Trent Railway Station to the University |
There are regular buses from Stoke-on-Trent railway station to the campus. Alight outside the Darwin Building (24 hour Reception) and follow the signs to the MEI Conference in Chancellor’s Building nearby There is a taxi rank just outside the station to the left and typically the taxi journey to the University takes around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Ask to be dropped at the Chancellor’s Building. |
By bus |
The number 25 First PMT bus leaves for Keele from a bus stop opposite Stoke Railway Station every 10-15 minutes during the day and less frequently in the evenings and on Saturdays. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. The bus travels via Newcastle-under-Lyme to the campus (last bus leaves from Stoke Railway Station at 00:03 Mon-Fri and 00:09 Sat) Click here to view the timetable for the Number 25 bus A local bus service “D&G” (service 85) runs between Hanley and Crewe, stopping at Keele University. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. The service runs hourly Monday to Saturday (last bus leaves from Stoke Railway Station at 18:43 Mon-Fri and 17:43 Sat). |

Getting from Crewe Railway Station to the University |
There are regular buses from Crewe railway station to the campus. The bus leaves from the stop near the roundabout to the right of the station entrance and across the road, and travels through the campus (journey time about 40 minutes). Alight outside the Darwin Building (24 hour Reception) and follow the signs to the MEI Conference in Chancellor’s Building nearby There is a taxi rank just outside the station entrance and typically the taxi journey to the University takes around 35 minutes, depending on traffic. Ask to be dropped at the Chancellor’s Building. |

A local bus service “D&G” (service 85) to Hanley runs hourly Monday to Saturday. Last bus leaves Crewe Bus Station at 22:15. |

There are regular buses from Hanley Bus Station to the University. The journey from Hanley takes about 40 to 50 minutes. Alight outside the Darwin Building (24 hour Reception) and follow the signs to the MEI Conference in Chancellor’s Building nearby. The taxi rank is on Stafford Street by The Body Shop. The journey should take 20 minutes, depending on time of day and traffic. Ask to be dropped at Chancellor’s Building. |
