Differential equations in A level Further Mathematics

Sharon Tripconey

11:15 - 12:15 Thursday 28 June

A level Mathematics / Further Mathematics

Key techniques for solving differential equations, which go beyond separation of variables, are included in the compulsory part of A level Further Mathematics. Applications can bring the topic alive with examples such as as motion with air resistance, resonance, and predator-prey models. In this session, we will consider three main topics: the integrating factor, second order differential equations, and coupled differential equations. The session is ideal for A level Further Mathematics teachers who wish to prepare themselves to teach this topic.
