Mathematical comprehension in the OCR(MEI) A level

Bernard Murphy

14:30 - 15:30 Thursday 29th June

A level Mathematics / Further Mathematics OCR(MEI)

In this session we will look at the role that the (new, shorter) comprehension piece will play in the new OCR(MEI) A level. We’ll provide three new pieces written for this session for you to trial in real time (albeit a bit quicker than students would need to do them) and use these to illustrate the aims of the comprehension piece. It is hoped that delegates will share their experiences of how they have developed students’ comprehension skills and integrated this into their teaching. If possible please bring a laptop or tablet.

Suitable for all teachers interested in the new OCR(MEI) A level who are familiar with content of the current Core 1-4.

Assumed knowledge

A basic knowledge of the underlying mathematical content is expected.
